Assessor Comments
A good line of very well bred, weaned Poll Dorset cross suckers offered in two lots of 305 head on run out the gate basis. These lambs are bred out of very good quality, large framed Egelabra & Grass Merino blood ewes, by top quality Kanoona Park & Ashburnia Poll Dorset rams. These lambs have been running with their mothers on forage Oats crop with cereal hay supplement since being marked in early April, & are demonstrating good weight for age gains, with no developmental set backs whatsoever. The lead of these lambs are on the cusp of being suitable for trade weight new season lamb markets, making them an attractive proposition for recently released forward sucker contracts & a relatively short term turn around. Alternatively, lambs possess the breeding to attain export weights given extra time & continued quality feed. Please note, some lambs present with green stain on breach & tail from grazing on fresh crop. 10% tail drafted out prior to assessment allowing for a very even line.
