Comment on Fat Score 1 Cattle
Chatfield have two mobs of Cows and Calves for sale today. This mob of cows are slighty lower condition compared to other mob. This line have come from the drier side of Chatfield which has not recieved very little wet season rain. Considering the season these cows still visually look fresh but are starting to show signs of carrying bigger calves. There are some lower weights in the cows. It was observed that these where the younger cows. (3 first calf cows are the lightest condition)

Temperament not assessed in Paddock
It is evident when entering the yards these cows have been treated with the utmost kindness. These cows & calves are high grade Brahman and work beautifully through their own yard. The cows on a whole filed up the race with no one pushing them. The 3 of us worked weigh box and scribed while the cows filed through the race. Did not observe any cow show bad temperment in the enviroment they are used too. It was a pleasure to observe these cows file through the race with no haste.

Assessor Comments
These Cows and Calves are only being sold due to very poor wet season rain over the last 3 years. It is clearly visable these Cows have been treated with the utmost kindness and there was no sign of any temperment in either of the two mobs put up for sale. Rob mustered these cows from the western half of Chatfield two weeks ago when staff where available on the weekend. Even though it has been a poor wet season, through the vendors sound husbandry these cows and calves are in extremely good order. The second mob being offered for sale today where mustered and mothered last weekend. These cows have been living in a holding paddock next to yards being fed Rhodes grass hay each day. From my observation the quality of these calves is a credit to the breeding of the Chatfield Brahmans. These calves have strong potential for future breeding stock. It is the plan for this group to be trucked with 18 Cows and 18 Calves to a deck.
