Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Cattle were generally pretty good to handle in the race and crush. Most did react negatively when being mouthed (not unusual behavior). In the bigger yards most tend to push into a tight mob when under pressure, nothing that will come out of the mob though. Heifers need to be steadied through gateways and buyers should be aware there could be the odd heifer that could become aggressive if they became isolated. Best handled in a quiet manner without too much force put on them.

Assessor Comments
Buyers presented is a good line of mainly medium framed heifers PTIC to the Angus bulls for their 2nd calf. These were purchased 12 months ago as PTIC out of the Blackall sale so obviously must have got in calf at a pretty young age for their 1st calf. These don't show much weight for age however they are only in store to forward store condition and buyers should be aware these have only had their weaner calves removed a couple of weeks ago. I would expect these young breeders to pack the weight on now that the weaners are gone and they have access to good quality pastures. Breeders numbers are still short in Australia and look to be a safe bet for a restocker to retain for future breeding or a trader to calve down and offer as a young cow/calf unit in early 2023. Noted approx. 4 heifers with some white on the underline and also a few with some old fly rub scars around the eyes. Also noted a heifer with old blue eye scarring but sight seems unaffected and shouldn't be an issue.
