These steers were very good to handle in & out of the yards. I watched them being let out by one person on a bike and they walked away from the yards nice and quietly. They have only been weaned for just over a week. A handful of the steers stirred up in the race and crush but settled down when let out with the others. These steers have been pound drafted and had a 60km truck trip from the vendors other property.

Assessor Comments
68 VGQ HGP free soft crossbred steers that have very good bone, length, depth and frame for their breed and age. They are ideal backgrounding steers that would grow into very good feeder or slaughter steers suitable for most markets. These steers are from a highly regarded herd and they will continue to perform on good quality feed. They are very quiet with tidy heads & good feet. Those steers with horns, have only very small weaner horns. 2 steers have either a blue or cloudy eye. A Simmental / Charolais cross steer had been late cut. They are vendor bred (5 family brands) out of large frame cows by VGQ bulls. The majority were weaned over the past week. These weaner steers have been very well handled and were in the yard Sunday night & had 25mm of rain so were let out into the holding paddock and re-yarded on Tuesday morning prior to assessing. Vendor has another 2 lots of weaners in this sale. "Weston" is Prickly Acacia free where these steers are running.
