Boonerah composites have been used for the past 8 years, selecting for fertility, growth, structure and doing ability. Ewes are heavily culled annually on performace and structure. Wairere Romney rams were introduced 3 years ago.

800 Store lambs weighing between 28kg-39kg to average 33.3kg 5 hours off water and feed. Majority of the lambs are 31-36kg. A large tail was removed before assessing. They are Aug drop, weaned in Nov and shorn in mid Dec. They were drenched with Trifecta at weaning and had a booster vaccination of 6in1 SB12. They have been running on summer crop and receiving 250g of barley on the ground 5 days per week. Majority of the lambs are maternals out of Boonerah and Wairere ewes and a portion are sired by a Gemini WS ram. Some of the lambs have blistered ears due to the summer crop however they are recovering. They are normally carried through to heavier weights however the summer crop has gone so lambs are to be moved on.
