Assessor Comments
Presenting the annual draft of the Strud & Co 1st cross ewes. Normally sold as lambs this year excessive rain prolonged the presentation. Of the sample mouthed approx 62% were 2 tooths and the balance still lambs. They have grown well however the above average rain to this point has hampered weight gain. The ewes still present very well and should join straight away. A small percentage (approx 13) have been affected by a mite in the pasture which has irritated their ears (see pics). This does not seem to have affected their performance or growth. They are long bodied ewes with plenty of volume. These ewes have gone to some discerning prime lamb breeders who have been extremely satisfied. Their weights probably don't properly express their frame score accurately. There are approx 4 ewes showing small horn (see pics) and a couple with old fly strike patches in wool. Most were 2 score with approx 32% 1 score & 3% 3 score. 430 total. They will be sold in two lots, a run out the gate.
