HIGH PERFORMANCE BULLS TAILORED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE COMMERCIAL BEEF PRODUCER
Our comprehensive approach allows us to produce Angus cattle that not only exhibit superior physical characteristics but also possess the genetic merit to consistently transmit those desirable traits to their progeny.
We have displayed via many years of benchmarking an ability to deliver a very low cost of production in both our own and our clients commercial herds. Our cattle must perform in a high stocking rate pressure environment to stay in the herd.
With a steadfast dedication to quality, innovation and customer satisfaction, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey of enhancing your herd’s profitability and success. Whether you’re looking to enhance your herd’s growth potential, improve carcass quality, or increase maternal efficiency, our cattle offer the genetic potential to fulfill your specific goals.
Phenotype refers to the observable characteristics of an animal, such as physical appearance, conformation, and performance traits. We carefully assess the phenotype of each animal in our breeding program, considering factors such as body structure, muscling, frame size, udder quality (in females) and overall soundness. Phenotypic evaluations are essential in determining an animal’s visual quality and suitability for the commercial market.
Genotype refers to an animal’s genetic makeup, which determines its inherited traits and potential for performance. We utilise advanced genomic evaluation techniques to analyse the genetic profiles of our Angus cattle. Through genomic testing we can gain insights into an animal’s genetic merits for specific traits such as growth, carcass quality and maternal abilities function. Genomic evaluations provide more accurate and reliable data compared to traditional pedigree-based evaluations.
By combining phenotype and genotype information we have a comprehensive understanding of an animal’s genetic potential and physical attributes. Our breeding program involves data integration where we collect and analyse performance data including growth rates, feed conversion, carcass measurements, longevity and reproductive efficiency. We incorporate this data alongside phenotype and genomic evaluations to identify superior individuals that exhibit desirable traits across multiple dimensions.
Using a multi-trait selection approach, we carefully evaluate the combined information from phenotype, genotype and performance data to make informed breeding decisions. We select animals that demonstrate excellence in traits relevant to commercial production. Our goal is to breed Angus cattle that possess a balanced combination of desirable traits to meet the diverse needs of the commercial market.
