MACQUARIE DOHNE STUD

Foundation Stud No. 4 | Established 2000

"We recognised from the beginning the importance of maintaining the true benefits of the breed. It’s all about balance – growth rates, carcase shape and quality, fertility, hardiness, and wool quality and yield."

Macquarie Dohne Stud was established in 2000 as Foundation Stud No. 4, with 50% of the first Dohne embryos imported into Eastern Australia from elite South African genetics.

With over 25 years of rigorous selection, the ‘Macquarie Type’ is recognised nationally and internationally for its consistency, quality and commercial performance.

Macquarie maintains a large genetic ewe base comprising five established families, with elite performance ewes regularly flushed and approximately 500 stud and flock rams available annually.

Macquarie ceased mulesing in 2004 and is certified through Authentico, reflecting our commitment to responsible animal welfare practices.

Proven Genetics Across Australia and Internationally

Macquarie flock rams are sold throughout NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and Tasmania, demonstrating the adaptability and commercial value of our genetics.

Through the supply of semen, stud rams and breeding ewes, Macquarie genetics have influenced major Dohne studs across Australia and contributed to the establishment of the breed internationally, including New Zealand, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, North America and the Falkland Islands.

MACQUARIE DOHNES – BALANCED GENETICS. PROVEN PERFORMANCE. COMMERCIAL PROFITABILITY.
