The cows are plain due to the country and the calves, but are strong. Care should be taken over distance.

These cattle have had very little handling in their lives, and this would be the first time the calves have been yarded let alone moved. Although a few cows are a little flighty and tend to run and crowd the gate, it is more their flight response than any aggression. With a little handling and education and more importantly quality feed, the cow and calves should be different cattle within months.

Assessor Comments
If you are looking for genuine store cattle these cows fit the bill. Having run in a big unimproved paddock all their lives, the strain of rearing a calf is showing mid-winter. The cows for the most part should be back in calf except for a half dozen or so that have small calves at foot and would only just be returning to service. Given a drench and some quality feed, and with spring around the corner, these cows should be different articles by Christmas. Running a bull with them on a rising plain of nutrition should see the lot back in calf in no time. Most are only on their first calf, and all calved unassisted. Some rubbing seen on most cows, two cows have blue eyes, and the calves are untouched and untreated apart from the NLIS tag. ( please note, cows were trucked into Nowra saleyards to assess due to lack of facilities on farm, were assessed at the yards, on scales that weigh in 5kg increments, and are awaiting sale and delivery in the saleyard resting paddocks)
