The temperament of the cows has improved during their stay at Berthong, and they ran fairly quietly through the assessment considering they had 2 vaccinations and a drench at the same time.

Assessor Comments
Berthong Pastoral Co is offering the complete drop of 2nd calvers purchased from the Wandeen poll shorthorn dispersal of February, 2023. These were purchased as ptic heifers, calved down, rejoined to the Mandayen Black Poll Limousin bulls and calved down again. The 76 calves were marked on the day of assessment(1 steer retains 1 testicle). 40 steers (29 black, 11 red) and 36 heifers (25 black, 11 red). Note for the photos in the yards they had been yarded overnight in a weaning yard on hay and water. These young cows are putting everything into their calves and are offered in lighter condition than we would have hoped. They are mostly large framed young breeders with plenty of milk. They are only being sold to make way for a growing sheep enterprise. One cow has had antibiotics and is identifiable. These young breeders are in strong condition with truly magnificent calves at foot and are being offered in the prime of their lives. They would make a great addition to any beef enterprise.
