Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Yards were a bit unconventional, being designed around an old dairy, with a loud, aluminium crush, which made even the quietest cow a bit anxious on the scales. All exited the crush quietly though, and only went a few steps before turning around and waiting for their poddy to come through. 1 cow had a larger flight zone, and was more anxious in closer proximity. However these heifers have only had very minimal handling, and have not been fed over the Summer like most we’re seeing.

Assessor Comments
Lovely even line of young Heifers & calves, Originally purchased to fatten, but they just grew out so well that the vendor decided they were nicer to join. Heifers are well grown & doing an excellent job on their very even drop of calves they have at foot. Displaying good strong maternal instincts, always keeping an eye on their calf, both in the yards & once out in the paddock taking photos. Carrying a big bag of milk, & no calves looking like they’ve ever missed a feed. These have been very low maintenance ‘do it yourselves’ heifers. With the vendor living off farm, they haven’t had any supplementary feeding over the dry spell, & all calved unassisted in the paddock. All heifers maintaining a good forward fat score, in perfect condition to put back out with the Bulls in a few weeks time. One heifer was a bit more anxious with a bigger flight zone, but a bit of hand feeding & some consistent handling/driving around would go a long way in a short time. Please Note - Trucking to NVLX
