No problems with travel for any score 1 heifers. They travelled over 2000kms to Surat with ease a month ago.

Heifers were generally very good to handle . They worked well through a big curved race up to the crush and fed through pretty well without much force. As normal they require to be blocked up through gateways. Heifers have had plenty of handling and this shows, they were very quiet when being photographed and videoed. Only the odd heifer resented being mouthed but this is normal behavior. Buyers should ensure cattle are given time to settle on arrival before shifting them to a paddock.

Assessor Comments
A line of good average quality AA Company bred heifers that are suitable for backgrounders to take to heavier weights for the domestic feeder market. Most heifers should suit most domestic orders. There were approx. 55 head that did have a higher Bos Indicus content and as such did have a degree of hump ranging from only slight to more prominent hump and the balance considered flat back types. There were also approx. 12 heifers that have only been dehorned since arrival at Surat and they are healing up pretty well. These are ideal for winter oats and you should see some pretty handy weight gains. Heifers have been gaining at about 0.5kg/day since they were weighed about 30 days ago. There is 1 heifer with a blue dot in one eye, no sight issues noticed. Also noted 1 heifer that looks to have been rubbed on her rump, probably on the truck. Also 1 heifer with a wart near her eye and also 1 heifer with a bit of a bump on her nose, no issues expected here though.

Grazing Conditions
Heifers have run on open downs country. Since arrival at Wylarah between Thursday 15th and Monday 19th July they have been held in feed yards and fed a silage/hay ration in feed bunks daily. Will continue to be the case until delivery.
