Most had only come off their mothers the day before and given this they were generally very good to handle in the yards and through the race and crush. A few tried to turn around in the race but when given space handled calmly stood and walked up into the crush. In the crush, five steers became mildly agitated and one steer highly agitated in and exiting the crush. They all settled quickly once back in the bigger yard. Have been worked with side by sides, horses and dogs.

Assessor Comments
A fair through to good and very good quality line of yard weaner steers. They are mostly medium to large frame and suit to background to heavy domestic and then onto export feeder weights After this property was purchased in 2021, these calves were purchased as part of various mobs of cow and calf units. Due to the spread in the calving 13 of these weaners were weaned in April with the balance from the second and final round of weaning. The 32 steers were yard weaned the night before assessment and all the steers will be educated to hay racks, electric fences and yards prior to delivery. Three steers have slight blue eye spots in one eye. While no active pink eye was observed in the mob at assessment, all weaners will be rechecked for active pink eye prior to delivery. They had a LWR or 154 - 354 kg at assessment with a small tail removed. Note a deck of Angus steers available to make 2 decks.
