Comment on Fat Score 1 Cattle
Half of mob recently weaned & half of mob weaned in September 2021. All have been on a rising plane of nutrition. All fit to travel up to 1200 km from Cloncurry in one lift. A 12 hour spell is recommended at 800 km if travelling further then 1200 km in one lift. Steers are in store condition & strong. All have experienced a truck ride. Best transport practices encouraged. Will be loaded at 40 per deck. 8 hd extra available if truck driver will accept more if required to complete truck

Overall cattle were good to handle with the vendors young family all in the yards. These steers, as well as the heifers from same vendor have been handled & moved through rotational grazing system and are used to being handled in & out of the yards.

A good line of number 1 (63%) & number 2 (37%) steers. (6 -13 month old). These steers display compensatory gain potential. 68% display hump with 10% having minimal hump and 22% flatback . Steers weighed 170kg to 250kg. They are a line of second round weaners and a the lead of first round weaners from 2022. Sale only due to de-stocking with seasonal conditions. Weights 25% x 170­ to 190kg, 28% x 191kg to 200kg, 32% 201kg to 220kg, 15% 221kg plus. Colour: 29 % grey, 8% honey, 14% brown/brindle, 21% red & 13% black, 13% creamy, 2% other. Steers are generally quiet to handle. Approximately 20% tail end in quality in this mob of some lighter bone and frame. Number 2 steers in this mob are only weaned for 1 week. They have settled down well and vendor is continuing to tail and weaner handle. Half of this mob have been regularly rotated through paddocks since weaning. Small number with fly bite. Well suited to backgrounding or pasture fattening.

Cattle are vendor bred on property however are generally out of purchased cows from varying different herds. Therefore consistency of breed & quality is not uniform throughout.

Generally weaners have been sired by quality, local stud bloodlines, including Charbray, Brangus and Brahman bulls.

63% of these are second round weaned from September 2021 & 37% are a number 2 line of fresh weaners from January 2022. currently they are being weaner trained. Oldest steer in group is 13 months. There has been no lead in quality removed from steers.

45 km of Bitumen & 20 km of gravel & blacksoil Road. In the event of wet weather small section can become impassable for up to a week. In event that cattle are unaccessible for over 21 days agistment at $6 wk may be required. Side load access only

Delivery can be arranged with 24 hrs notice. No dipping required. Clean of tick status. Further negotiation regarding Agistment can be discussed if prolonged wet weather occurs preventing delivery.
