Assessor Comments
A well-presented line of vendor bred Murray Grey steers and weighed 304kg full (260–346kg) at assessment. These steers have performed impressively, especially considering the dry start to the year. At 8–10 months of age they exhibit good growth, frame, and strong forward potential for their age. Considerable emphasis has been placed on genetic selection, with sires sourced from local studs, Ayrpark and Cadfor, for superior performance traits. Highlights include: Ayrpark genetics: top 10% for Intramuscular Fat (IMF), excellent muscling and carcase conformation. Cadfor’s “Tomahawk” bull: Top 1% for Supermarket and Heavy Grass Indexes Top 1% for Carcase Weight , IMF, and 400-Day Weight. Top 5% for 600-Day Weight Please note: a small tail was removed at the time of assessment. These steers are normally grown out to heavy export weights but are reluctantly being sold early given the tight season. Excellent quality steers to background onto feeder or heavy grassfed weights.
