Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Steers were very good to handle in the yards. A majority were very quiet while in the race and crush. Two steers became slightly agitated in the crush and exited quickly. All settled once back in the yard together and all remained quiet when being photographed. The vendor runs a cell grazing operation and steers are used to electric fences. Vendor handles stock using Low Stress Stock techniques.

Assessor Comments
A fair through to very good quality line of Shorthorn and Shorthorn Cross EU accredited steers. These vendor bred steers are mostly medium to large framed steers . They suit to take to the heavy end of domestic feeder and then through to export feeder weights for the EU market. Please note that four steers have slight blue eye in one eye. No active pinkeye was present at assessment, but with the high fly population their eyes will be checked prior to delivery. The horned animals will be tipped prior to delivery. Steers have not had access to grain and are eligible for a range of high end markets including The Thousand Guineas Beef Program. After a tough period in the second half of 2023, these steers have just started to get onto green feed and they will put weight on quickly with access to good pasture.
