Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Steers were mostly very good to handle throughout the crush with the 14 steers which were called Slightly Stirry just would not fully settle in the crush. However they were all very settled when back in the yard together and remained quiet when being photographed. Given that for 50 of the steers that had just come off their mothers they were well behaved. They will settle further and will be worked in and through the yards during weaning. Educated to electric fences.

Assessor Comments
A good to very good quality line of yard weaned vendor bred steers. The steers range from Angus and Angus cross to a soft British/Euro/Bos crossbred steer. There are two different weanings in this sale mob with 29 steers yard weaned on 19/03/24 and 50 steers which were weaned at assessment on 09/04/24. The weaned steers are back in the paddock while the newly weaned steers will be yard weaned until delivery. They will be worked in and through the yards and smaller holding paddocks. The steers are medium to large framed and suit to background to domestic and then onto export feeder weights. Three steer noted with healing pink eye in one eye and slight to moderate PE scars in one eye. Active pink eye was noted in the wider mob - eyes will be checked prior to delivery. These 6 - 8 month old steers had a LWR of 160 - 300 kg at assessment and have been exposed to bikes, dogs and electric fences. They are a nice line of backgrounder steers that will continue to move forward on good feed.
