Assessor Comments
Tops of the drop line of EU Angus steers from a highly regarded herd all weighed into a very tight weight range of 327-391kg to average 346kg with a half curfew at assessment. These steers are feedlot/ bunk trained and currently gaining approximately 1.5kg/day in containment (see grazing condtions). From one of the leading commercial herds in the Western District, the Ardgartan herd select Bulls that are in the top 10% of the industry for 400 day (+110) growth and IMF (+4.5), with the steers always being highly sort after by major feedlots. Recent feedback from feedlots is putting these steers in the top echelon for performance, with growth and marbling well above breed average. These steers have plenty of weight for age, making them ideal to turn over quickly into a heavy feeder steer or could go straight onto a finishing ration. Selling c/kg only to be weighed full -5% at Hamilton or Coleraine weighbridge.
