The older weaned heifers worked well through the yards. They were well handled and tailed outside during the weaning process. The 35 fresh weaned heifers were obviously a bit fast but should have settled down by trucking and will not have been tailed outside.

110 good quality Droughtmaster heifers that are only getting sold due to the poor seasonal conditions. Penola Downs has been breeding quality Droughtmasters for over 40 years and the lead has not been retained out of this mob so includes some very good quality heifers. The heifers are ideal to keep as future breeders or grow into heavy flatback feeder heifers. Majority of heifers are red with pink noses but there is 8 with white patches. There is also 4 Brindles and 3 with a slight hump and a black nose. I mouthed all 12 heifers between 360 and 440kg and found 3 with 2 teeth and the rest were milk teeth. Two of the heifers were observed with a dog bite, and I have included last 2 individual photos of them. Two heifers had ringworm sores on their neck and head. All heifers have been running with Droughtmaster bulls but have not been pregnancy tested. I would presume the heavier heifers could be in calf . Vendor will deliver free of charge to Blackall Sale Yards.
