Assessor Comments
A very even & tight group of 63 EU Angus steers from the South Killanoola herd. This line of predominantly April 25 drops, has been individually weighed from 390kg to a max of 479kg full weight. (The next heaviest steer from the heaviest, is 438kg). Incredibly quiet in temperament, they present in ideal fresh store condition, large medium frame & very even in type. Soft in the skin & healthy, these steers are ideally suited to either the grass finisher looking to purchase cattle for the upcoming Spring feed flush, or the grain finisher looking to go straight to the pen. The South Killanoola herd is well known in the South East for producing, over a long period of time, good doing and productive cattle. Good bone, depth & muscle pattern are clearly evident. Exhibiting plenty of frame but with minimal current gloss & finish, these steers will take very little time on good feed to hit their straps & reach their target market. NOTE - a small amount of early rubbing is evident which will clean up immediately with a drench application. NOTE - Approx 3 steers carry a small amount of healed eye scarring from a previous summer infection. Both issues are not hindering or deemed as detrimental, to the steers immediate performance. A very good quality line of steers that, given the right quality of feed, will perform at a significant rate over the next 5 months.
