These were very good to handle in all areas of the yards. They marched up the race very well and most were steady on the weighing platform, a few jumped about a fraction. They were also good to handle in the bigger yards but like all cattle need to be steadied through gateways and stood up well during photographing. Buyer advised to settle these steers on arrival before letting them go out of the yards. These are very good to handle on horses in the paddock.

Buyers, here are 3 decks of the heavier draft of yearling steers that are PCAS ELIGIBLE and been drafted into a reasonably tight weight range. Present in mainly store condition, they will offer buyers plenty of compensatory weight gains when introduced to crop, grass or grain. Also had a big sweat in the yards prior to assessment further emphasizing compensatory gain. Plenty of frame, not much condition so it shouldn’t take long to get them to heavier export feedlot entry weights or right through to bullocks. Steers once again exhibit softness, good bone, length, depth of barrel and weight for age considering they have endured a big wet weather event and a fair amount of buffalo fly on them, evidenced by some fly scaring on them. The vendors are not frightened to spend money on the right genetics, always looking to move their herd forward and not just mark time. Steers don’t look to have suffered any setbacks. Receiving excellent feedback from past buyers about their performance.
