Assessor Comments
A good line of April/May drop of 1st cross mixed sex lambs. Lambs are currently unweaned and will be weaned at delivery. Most of these lambs however look like they could be self-weaned in my opinion. They are still gaining weight on the feed reserves available to them. The lambs offer an opportunity for a backgrounder to take to heavier kill weights on either grain, crop or winter herbages as they still have plenty of time before they cut teeth. Lambs averaged 45kg at assessment at approximately 4 months of age. Of the lambs assessed, 4 were noted to have scabby mouth. The sheep and lamb industry is in great shape and restockers should take advantage of strong lamb markets heading into spring/summer.
