Assessor Comments
A very good quality line of 2nd cross Poll Dorset weaned sucker lambs. This line of 480 lambs are being offered as 2 lots of 240 head, on a ‘run out the gate’ basis at delivery, should they be bought by seperate buyers. Lambs are an even line of well bred suckers, with a large tail of approx 30%, of lighter lambs drafted out prior to assessment. These lambs are maintaining good freshness of tip despite being weaned, & offer an opportunity to offload the top end into attractive new season lamb markets, whilst maintaining the breeding potential to attain export weights given extra time and quality feed. Approx 20% of lambs sampled at assessment showed the affects of photosynthesis, presenting mostly around the ears of affected lambs (see photos). Odd lamb has withered tail still attached from marking. Quality, weaned young lambs, boasting good freshness and carcass shape, that possess the breeding to perform.
