Lambs weaned day prior to assessment. 100-150 ewes will be left in and drafted at delivery.
Assessor Comments
Four decks of Merino wether lambs that present in fresh store condition. Lambs were weaned on the 10th February, the day prior to assessment and were held in the yards having a 26 hour curfew prior to weighing. Approx. 70% of lambs were given a market crutch prior to assessment as they had dags from enjoying an excellent season of pigweed and other herbages. Lambs have not had a setback since birth with property being understocked and average rainfall in their lifetime. Ewes that mothered these lambs were purchased by vendor as SIL from three different properties, with bloodlines from Wanganella, Mt Ascot and GRASS Merinos. Vendor is a longtime Merino producer and is selling as normal turnoff of wether lambs in line with calendar of operations. Lambs consist of both horn and polls with plenty of frame for age. Lighter lambs in this lot would only be behind due to age, with 20% tail removed prior to weighing and kept to grow out by vendor.
