A QUALITY LINE OF 2ND CROSS LAMBS. THESE LAMBS ARE BY THE HILLCROFT FARMS ULTRAWHITE SIRES THAT HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY SELECTED FOR GROWTH, FAT AND EYE MUSCLE, AS WELL AS SHEDDING ABILITY. THEY ARE OUT OF THE VERY GOOD QUALITY NEW ARMATREE 1ST CROSS EWES WHICH ARE LARGE FRAMED, PRODUCTIVE EWES THAT HAVE SERVED THE KNIGHT FAMILY VERY WELL OVER A NUMBER OF YEARS.
THERE ARE 246 EWE LAMBS AND 189 WETHER LAMBS IN THIS LOT. THEY WERE DRENCHED AND HAD THEIR 2ND 6 IN 1 VACCINATION ON THE DAY OF ASSESSMENT. THEY RANGE FROM 13 - 22KG TO AVG 19.5 WITH AN 18 - 24HR CURFEW, AND HAVE HAD AN AVD OF 120G. THEY ARE THE LIGHTER, AND PROBABLY YOUNGER, LAMBS OUT OF THE DRAFT OF 3000. WITH SIMILAR GENETIC POTENTIAL AS THEIR BIGGER BROTHERS, AND WITH REDUCED COMPETITION FOR FEED THESE LAMBS SHOULD IMPROVE QUICKLY GIVEN THE RIGHT OPPERTUNITY.
