The annual sale of the FB Lock & Sons 1st Cross wether lambs.
FB Lock & Sons is one of the very best producers of 1st cross Border Leicester / Merino lambs in SA & Western Districts of Victoria.
Only the top & cleanest merino ewes from the best of the Mallee & Mid North sheep flocks, come on to Warrawee. Coupled with Alderside Park Super Border sires, the lambs produced have a distinct type showing growth, bone, muscle and a good open & clean head.
This 550 will be a run out the gate from a total line of 1100. Individually weighed, the line is very even & tight. The minimum weight is 30kg with maximum 36.5kg. The bulk of the lambs fall into the 32-36.5kg range.
The lambs are healthy, have been crutched & show through the scales that they are averaging 230gms/hd/day growth. Given the cold wet winter & the weaning process, this is well on par with previous years.
These lambs are well suited to the grass finisher either looking to turn lambs through spring pasture and onto stubbles, or the feedlotter that has the ability to background, add non costly weight & then finish in the feed pen. They are currently fresh in the skin, but will progress significantly quicker once shorn.
A very nice line of lambs that are well known for their ability to finish.
