Assessor Comments
Here is a line of 159 Merino ewes, blue tag (6.5 years old) with 122 Border Leicester sired lambs at foot. Ewes show good frame and are doing a good job on their lambs. 122 lambs at foot by Border Leicester rams averaging 16kg, lambs are unmarked but will be tagged. Ewes are currently running on agistment due to loss of country from flooding and are being offered for sale as agistment feed has run out. Ewes were trucked very close to the start of lambing to escape floodwaters so noted some ewes with a tender fleece as a result of stress from this. Also noted some signs of light rubbing, could be lice present. Also please note not all ewes are rearing a lamb. Mouthed approx. 15 ewes at assessment with mouths ranging from good sound mouths to broken mouths (see photos). These ewes present an opportunity to secure ewes with a good line of young lambs at foot, which once the lambs are weaned would be ideal to shear and fatten. Please note 3 day delivery period.
