Assessor Comments
A good line of quality middle aged merino ewes, scanned 144% in lamb to GILMORE Poll Dorset rams, to start lambing mid August. Ewes are medium to larger framed, plain bodied types ideally suited to XB lamb production. Ewes are in good health, though lacking a little condition due to the continued watery feed, due to a very wet season. These ewes are at the height of their productivity and present an excellent opportunity to capitalise, by utilising surplus feed from continued wet seasons for a relatively quick turn around on investment, with a good percentage of first cross Poll Dorset lambs due on the ground in around 6 weeks time. Another 2 lots of 2 year old SIL ewes and a lot of mature aged ewes are also being offered this sale as part of a restructuring of operations by the vendor. Ideal ewes to value add for a quick trade, or years of production left in them to retain as quality breeders.
