Assessor Comments
The annual turnoff of the Barrett ewes albeit a bit later than usual. Normally these ewes are presented as lambs but the extreme wet conditions didn't allow vendors to present the ewes to their usual high standard. Ewes were held and grown out. They present with a good rebate on their backs and have been scanned empty. There are two lots of 220 being offered being a run out the gate of the top 4 decks drafted out of 600. If same purchaser buys the lot vendor is happy to load 4 decks comfortably. These ewes are 19 to 23 months(80% 2T, 20% 4T) and have never been joined. The ewes have been in and out of yards all week prior to assessment and some have weepy eyes from the dust. Odd ewe has rubbed around face (see pics). I can give a strong recommendation to any lamb producers about these ewes. The vendor has classed heavily for presentation. The sample weighed 59 kg at assessment with a low weight of 49kg and a high of 70kg after 2 hours in yards and a lot of handling prior to assessment.
