Assessor Comments
On offer is a line of cast for age Merino ewes, 5.5 & 6.5 years old. These ewes are vendor bred, from a self-replacing flock of Bundemar and Bogo blood. The ewes have been classed breeders, with the flock classed annually by Tom Kirk. They are SIL at 170% (75 singles and 175 multiples) to Glenfinnan White Suffolk rams, to lamb from mid May for 6 weeks. They also have a big May shorn skin. 57 ewes were mouthed at assessment with 15 having broken mouths, ranging from only missing an outside tooth to ewes missing centre teeth. See photos for examples of the mouths. These ewes would be ideal to shear prior to lambing for some quick cashflow, and then lamb down and rear the big percentage of lambs they have on board before finishing for the mutton market.
