Assessor Comments
250 mixed age Aussie White ewes, with 281 marked lambs at foot. These ewes have been part of the core breeders in a self-replacing operation, where the flock is continuously joined for the most part. This lot represents the last mob in a flock dispersal, due to the property lease coming to an end, which were held back until the bulk of the lambs were old enough to travel. Ewes are doing a terrific job on their lambs, which are sappy & fresh, with every one having the potential to make a sucker on continued quality feed, making them an attractive trade proposition on very strong, current lamb & mutton markets. Approx 2/3 of the younger year drop ewes have plenty of production ahead of them, however the other 1/3 older ewes are getting past their prime, beyond raising this years lamb. Very odd ewe with lumpy udder & long toe nails, consistent with age. Approx a dozen lambs were unmarked at assessment, due to being born after lamb marking, with a small % of ewes potentially still to lamb.
