Assessor Comments
335 Composite x Merino ewes, SIL to LBW Gemini White Suffolk rams. The ewes are June/July drop 2020 with majority still 2 tooths. They are sired by a Highlander / New Zealand Composite ram and bred by Mumblebone bld merino ewes and were purchased from two different local farms. Their weights range from 43-63kg to average 52.3kg full. The ewes were shorn on the 1st of October and have approx 80mm of wool, the wool tested 21.9 micron in Oct. There is some burr and thistles around their heads, necks and bellies though nothing that wouldnt shear off. They havent had a pre lamb crutch, most are clean however some have some dag. A lot of money was spent on the White Suffolk Gemini rams, which were selected from high growth, positive fat and high EMD. The rams went in 20/2 and out 1/4. Overall the top 2/3's of these ewes are very good and the bottom 1/3 still need feed to grow out however I believe with time will turn into quality first cross ewes.
