Assessor Comments
Presenting a very nice line of young Merino ewes all scanned in lamb to Glenoak Border Leicesters. The ewes are large framed WA bred sheep which have already had the opportunity to the rams last year and after producing a lamb have been rejoined, scanned and are being offered for sale. A very small percentage of these ewes were treated for fly prior to shearing and hence have the odd shorter patch of wool. This was due to the extremely good spring and high incidence of fly strike. Approx 25 ewes show some sort of horn or scur. The sample assessed averaged 67 kg after an overnight curfew. They are predominantly large framed and plain bodied. Noticed 1 ewe with an old scar on near side front leg, not affecting mobility. They have a good start in the wool which is bright and a medium type. All ewes are scanned in lamb with 292 being deemed to be carrying twins and 173 singles. The vendors regularly offer some of the best 1st cross ewes our company sells each year.
