Assessor Comments
930 Dorper ewes, scanned in lamb to Bellevue Dorper rams. Lambing is expected to commence from the 15th of September through to the 8th of November. From the assessed sample, 15% were Blue tag (2 years), 26% Red tag (3 years), 27% Yellow tag (4 years), and 22% Purple tag (5 years). The remaining 11% were untagged but, based on type and dentition, are estimated to include 8% Blue/Red (2–3 years) and 3% Yellow/Purple (4–5 years). Approximately 70% of the mob are vendor-bred and sired by Bellevue Dorper rams, tails not removed. The remaining 30% are purchased ewes sourced from selected Dorper breeders in Southern Queensland. This is a very good line of ewes presenting as a consistent maternal type with scanned empty ewes culled and no faults, and they would be a valuable addition to any breeding flock. A credit to the vendor and ewes as they have had lambs weaned in June and continue to present visually in forward store to prime condition.
