Assessor Comments
A line of vendor bred, good to very good quality EU steers. Steers were yard weaned in June 2025, moved onto Oats post weaning last winter and have been grazing native pastures up until now. These steers are normally taken through to heavy EU feeder weights or crop finished for the EU Grassland slaughter market. Vendor is only selling due to the season. LWR at assessment was 281kg - 388kg after a 2 hr walk to the yards. Please note weight gain, this reflects the fact that the steers have been chasing the green pick for the last 7 - 10 days. This is anticipated to continue so steers will be fed cotton seed in the paddock up until delivery. With medium to large frames they suit to take onto export feeder weights or finish for a range of EU, grassfed slaughter markets. Please note that there is one steer who had a slight blue eye spot in both eyes, one with a moderate blue eye and three steers with slight blue eye scaring in one eye. Note, one steer visible in the video with a short tail will not be loaded, to make this lot 127hd. These flatback steers are from a cow herd made up of Angus, Shorthorn & Santa Composite cows. Sired by Angus, The Grove Shorthorn and Gyranda Santa bulls, selected on carcase attributes & growth EBVs. Steers are being listed as two 'run out the gate' lots, each lot making up one road train (total of 8 decks listed). Property is located on the Carnarvon Hwy, 12km South of Surat.
