Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Heifers were ok to good to handle in the yards and crush. They had never been over the weigh platform before and tended to balk before getting on. 20 head would then not settle completely and continued to fidget on the scales and often exited quickly. One heifer was highly agiated on the scales. Most settled well and remained quiet when being photographed with just a handful wanting to lead out quickly while being videoed. Nothing aggressive noted.

Assessor Comments
A good to very good quality line of Shorthorn yard weaned heifers. These heifers are vendor bred and are from a herd which have been on The Grove Shorthorn genetics from for at least 17 years. This is the full drop of this years weaner heifers with a small tail removed at assessment. The top 40% have the potential to make good quality future breeders. The heifers are mostly medium to large framed heifers, and had a LWR of 169 - 357 kg after an overnight (15 hr) wet curfew in the yards. Heifers have also not had access to grain or cotton seed and are PCAS eliible. They would suit to either take directly onto crop or to grass finish for a range of high quality slaughter markets. Heifers are located approx 15km off the Gore Hwy north east of Goondiwindi. Please note that the cattle are on short dry feed and if there is substantial rain post assessing there is the potential for them to start chasing short green feed - we would ask buyers to consider this and attempt a prompt load day.
