These weaners have been weaned for the past 2 weeks and are still fairly flighty, but have settled better than previous lots. There are ring leaders that move rapidly in the bigger yards and they need to be steadied down through a gateway, not unusual. Nothing in the mob that could be considered aggressive. Would encourage buyers to allow heifers sufficient time to settle down on arrival prior to being shown the 'bush gate'. Would benefit from further weaning protocols and maybe tailed out.

Buyers, 7-decks of the Consuelo EU ACCREDITED Santa backgrounder heifers being offered in one 4-deck lot and one 3-deck lot (304 head all up). These have developed a great reputation and been offered on A+ for the past 11 years and always seem to attract plenty of attention and it comes as no surprise many are repeat buyers. They have presented in store to forward store condition, and I would suggest these will really hit their straps on improved and native pastures where the seasonal conditions allow. I would also anticipate some positive compensatory gains as these have been in hand for quite a while and they have weighed lighter than they look. They are genetically very sound cattle and would be ideal to put away for the long term and grow out to heavier domestic feedlot entry weights. Also, the cheapest and easiest way for potential breeders of Santa cattle to establish themselves in the breed to put away for the long term and grow out before they find their way to a bull. The heifers possess plenty of breed character, length and depth of barrel as is usual here. Clean country buyers note they are offered GUARANTEED CLEAR of the dip and will clear on either Friday or Saturday. For buyers in all tick free areas the cattle are to be removed from Consuelo at the very latest, the day after clearance. It would be prudent to maybe have transport on hold to save scrambling post sale which has happened on past occasions.
