Steers were only very freshly weaned and because of this assessed as slightly stirry through and while exiting the crush. For the most part the steers generally settled as much as freshly weaned steers do when they joined their other weaned mates.

Assessor Comments
A good to mostly very good quality line of freshly weaned vendor-bred Shorthorn steers. They are medium to large framed steers that suit to background to domestic and then onto export feeder weights. They have not had access to grain or antibiotics and would be eligible for grass-finished programs. Steers have been vaccinated with a dose of 5in1 at branding and will receive their second dose of 5in1 during weaning. At branding the steers also received a dose of Ivomec Pour-On. They were assessed as 63% very good quality and 37% good quality steers that are nice and fresh in the coat and will continue to move forward with access to good quality feed post weaning. At assessment they had a LWR of 142 - 298 kg with an estimated average delivery weight of 202.3 kg.
