Assessor Comments
A fair through to good and very good quality line of vendor bred EU Angus and Angus x heifers. They are medium to large frame and suit to background to heavy domestic feeder weights. There is also potential to take the better end of them on as future breeders - no heifers are being kept from this drop due to the seasonal conditions. They are grain and antibiotic free so would also be eligible for a pasture finished program. Vendor has an extended but not continuous calving. They are sired by good quality Te Mania Angus bulls. No heifers with active pink eye were seen at assessment but the yards and the paddocks are very dry and they will be rechecked prior to delivery. The season has been very tough in this district and these heifers got access to a forage barley crop which has freshened them up. They are being supplemented with cereal hay in the paddock with the last access to hay the day prior to assessment. They were drafted with a LWR of 202- 364 kg with a small lighter tail removed at assessment. They are nice quality heifers that have the genetic quality to move ahead with access to good feed.
