Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Heifers were very good to handle in all areas of the yards and also considered quiet when moving from yard to yard and in the crush they were quiet. Generally, the temperament is not an issue at all. Buyers should be warned however, most cattle need to be settled down on arrival after a truck trip and in strange surroundings before they are shown the bush gate. Vendors always present their cattle in an excellent quiet manner.

Assessor Comments
Buyers, great quality weaned heifers best described as “flatback” Composites that are GUARANTEED CLEAR OF TICKS. These have been bred in light forest type country so anticipate plenty of supplementary weight gain on better quality heavy developed scrub soil country. Present in store condition from the prolonged dry spell and gone through the weaning process without a hitch; there is not a “peep” out of them so I would suggest most of these were self-weaned prior. Don’t expect little soft “butter balls” that will melt before your eyes. Whilst the heifers are plain in condition they don’t look to have had a setback that will prevent them from reaching their full potential from a growth perspective. Vendor doing an excellent job breeding flatback type cattle to suit the domestic supermarket trade and we are now finding repeat buyers operating on these cattle regularly. Producers with a backgrounding operation are advised to purchase these and see how they perform, guarantee you’ll be back for more. The cattle market is flying at present on the back of early spring rainfall over a vast area so don’t miss out on this opportunity to purchase lightweight heifers to put away. Note, these should fit on 2 decks comfortably. There is a 3-deck line of steers being offered also from this property. If a buyer was to buy both lots, I wouldn’t be jamming them on a 4½ deck unit, they will be too tight.
