Assessor Comments
Offering 172 future breeder first cross ewe lambs. Sired by “Brookside” Armidale NSW blood Border Leister sires over “Brookside” (Merryville based) medium framed blood dams. This line represents the October/November drop ewe lambs with a small top (went to the kill) and a small tail under 31kg removed. Vendor purchased the consignment as ewes with lambs at foot but due to the tight season they are being offered for sale to make room for sheep that are all in containment. Original intentions were to retain the ewe lambs as breeders but the decision has been made to move them on. They are 3 weeks off shears and have been well shorn. The wool off the complete drop tested at 22.2 micron giving the successful purchaser the advantage of a healthy wool return given the current position of the wool market as well as a fat lamb for the strong lamb market. They are on the do and will continue to mature into medium framed ewes with a spring in front of them. They were 100% assessed and weighed into a 20kg bracket ranging from 31-51kg at assessment. Ideal to secure future breeders before the pressure of the market hits in the spring. Vendor is offering merino ewe lambs in today’s sale also.
