Assessor Comments
An outstanding line of young commercial ewe lambs out of the Dalveen stud. The top of the drop, and the end of an era. You would have to go a very long way to find a line of ewe lambs as good as these. 56 kg average, live weight. There was a 15% tail taken out of this mob. These ewes have a large frame for age with the odd medium frame, presenting in good forward store to forward condition, being mainly high fat score 3's to 4's with the odd 2. The majority of these ewes, if not all, would still have their lambs' teeth. The sample mob were 100% milk teeth. These ewes are for sale due to the dry seasonal conditions and sale of property. This is the final draft of 100 years of merino breeding. The lambs are in excellent condition post shearing, I put this down to the management practices and feeding regime. They are in the paddock on barley feeders and high-quality hay 100% of the time. The vendor is prepared to deliver to the Murray Bridge sale yards to meet a b-double.
