Assessor Comments
A handy line of young Angus cow & calf units, predominantly 1st calver heifers with 8 x 2nd calver cows in the mob. These young cows are doing a terrific job on the TeMania sired calves at foot, demonstrating very good maternal traits & putting the nutritional needs of their calves above their own, as witnessed by the big, fleshy calves at foot & the cows subsequent store condition.. These cows were purchased in larger lines as yearling heifers from various districts & then joined to the vendors TE MANIA Angus bulls, and split into smaller mobs at calving. Cows present mostly in store condition & are of moderate to good frame, with further development still left in them. Young cows at the peak of production, with plenty of opportunity to add further value by fattening the cows & growing the vealers. Continuously joined young cows & calves, which have been pregnancy scanned at assessment yielding 16 PTIC & 7 NDP. Odd cow appears to be drying up a little due to the size of the vealers.
