Age Breakup: Steers would be 12 to 14 months old as vendor control mates. One exception is the steer that weighed 476 kg - he was born earlier & is most likley is 18 months old - he was mouthed & was milk tooth. 9 heavier steers were mouthed - all milk teeth.

The steers were very good to handle in the yard and at the crush when weighed. 4 head were slightly stirry when weighed but most settled down quickly when let out of the crush and into the yard. The were very well handled and educated at weaning time.

69 VGQ HGP Free vendor bred, flatback crossbred yearling steers with 9 head that have a small crest. The majority have very good bone, length, depth, frame for their breed & age and they should continue to grow out into good heavy weight feedlot bullocks, finish on grass/crop or they would be suitable for the trade feedlot market now. They are very tidy around the head & have good feet. They were weaned on the 4th October & most are quiet & very well handled. 9 head would be classed as having a small crest on their neck & could have up to 30% Bos Indicus blood. Two steers have a blue spot in eye & one steer has an active pinkeye that was treated with Terramycin at assessment. One steer has a small soft lump below his near ear. These blemishes are not detrimental to the well being of the steers - please see photos of blemishes. The steers averaged 348 kg at assessment after a 12 hour overnight curfew. "Alni" is Prickly Acacia Free.
