These steers were good to work with, and the draft prior to crush-side assessment was completed through a round yard. During individual assessment (crush-side) a large majority of the steers were happy to stand without pressure. At mouthing, a higher percentage were noted to be uncomfortable with the close interaction. Steers were easy to handle in bigger yards in a mob and easy to count through gateway etc.

Assessor Comments
6 decks of VGQ, HGP Free, PCAS Eligible, 100% Milk Tooth, No.1 Brahman and Charbray steers of good health and ready to surge ahead on good feed. Good frame, bone and temperament. The feed available (predominantly buffel grass and herbage/weed) is green yet light due to rain event in May which is providing these steers a rising plane of nutrition although there is still plenty of compensatory gain to be had if going on to quality feed. Steers are predominantly Nov 2020 - April 2021 Drop calves and were trucked to Doncaster in July-August 2021 as weaners. Out of a quality Brahman and Charbray female herd by good Quality Brahman & Charbray bulls. All steers treated with Coopers Paramax (an Ivermectin based product) at assessment as a pre-treatment. 2 steers noted to have Fly Bite predominantly in the neck area at assessment. 100% of Mob Bangtailed. Steers range from 261-437kg at assessment with a large majority being 310-400kg.
