These steers were good to work with, and the draft prior to crush-side assessment was completed through a round yard. During individual assessment (crush-side) a large majority of the steers were happy to stand without pressure. At mouthing, a higher percentage were noted to be uncomfortable with the close interaction. Steers were easy to handle in bigger yards in a mob and easy to count through gateway etc.

Assessor Comments
4 decks of short turn around, Brahman and Charbray steers of good health and ready to surge ahead and make bullocks on good feed. Ideal to finish on grass, grain or oats. Good frame, bone and temperament. The feed available (predominantly buffel grass and herbage/weed) is green yet light due to rain event in May which is providing these steers a rising plane of nutrition although there is still plenty of compensatory gain to be had if going on to quality feed. There were 75 x No.0's, 10 x No.1's and 3 x late No.9's (Calendar Year Brand). All steers trucked to Doncaster as weaners. Out of a quality Brahman and Charbray female herd by good Quality Brahman & Charbray bulls. 1 steer noted to have Fly Bite in the neck area at assessment. Majority of steers have been treated with Compudose 400 at weaning however the No.1's in this lot are HGP Free. Steers range from 420-530kg at assessment with a large majority being 450-500kg.
