Heifers were pliable, sensible but alert whilst drafting, with only the odd heifer becoming unsettled when confined in the crush. One heifer became hostile when isolated but settled once back in the mob.

A one brand, vendor bred line of crossbred heifers. Bred in the north these heifers have struggled through a wet and cold New England winter and are now on the "do", and should provide compensatory gains on a higher plain of nutrition. Of the sample of heifers mouthed a small percentage were cutting 2 teeth with the majority milks. Whilst the heifers are NSM there was a partly entire male culled from their siblings at time of assessment. Majority of heifers showing some old lice rub on neck and brisket.

Heifers were originally bred at "Yelvertoft Station" via Camoweel. They were yard weaned early and trucked south on an agistment arrangement.

Heifers have been on agistment in traprock hill country grazing on unimproved New England native pastures. Supplementation with a light ration of cottonseed during the winter, recently ceased.
