Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Cattle having been yard weaned flow about the yards freely and steadily. When confined in force or crush some of them became agitated and jumpy. They are still getting used to the race and crush. Nothing was aggressive. Several steers left the crush pretty quickly. The cattle are quiet in the bigger yards and paddock but not in the working area. They just need some more education.

Assessor Comments
Presenting a tidy lot of weaned steers which are well grown and have good bone. Predominantly Santa Angus cross steers there are 34 blacks, 6 reds, one blue steer(shorthorn cross cow) and 4 Hereford cross steers. I only noticed one steer with an old eye blemish not affecting his performance. One steer has rub marks on his neck (pics). The cattle were good to work with in the yards but some did quicken up when in the pressure areas (force, race and crush). I would suggest the cattle haven't had to be put through there much yet and will improve with handling. All were weighed with low weight 212kg and high weight 331 kg to average 269kg after 2 hrs in yards. They would be ideal cattle to take on to feeder weights as they possess good frame and bone. The steers are in forward store condition and after weaning have lost that milky freshness but should continue to move forward from here.
