Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Quiet steers educated on horses and bikes with use of dogs. Low-stress stock handling practices used. A less than ideal yard setup left a small number of steers to stir up (mainly in the force up yards) but quickly returned to being relaxed after rejoining the mob in a larger yard. Steers walked through gateways noticeably well and were no issue to retrieve out of the large cooler yard.

Assessor Comments
A line of coastal bred Brangus weaner steers aged between 8-13 months. These present an excellent opportunity for restockers/backgrounders seeking quality and well-managed cattle to take on to heavier export feedlot entry weights or right through to bullocks off grass or crop. These steers have been yard weaned and handled extensively in and out of the yards over the past couple of weeks. By Angus bulls (Marcella & Mountain Valley studs) out of high-grade Brahman and Brahman cross cows. These are bred on lighter coastal country so as a result I would expect these cattle will excel on better quality pastures on heavier country. Steers were weighed after a large 15-hour dry curfew resulting in a weight range from 188-354kgs to average of 267kgs. Steers were pretreated 14/05/2024 with Iverlab pour-on in preparation for entry to all tick free areas. These have had no grain or antibiotics at any stage so will suit any PCAS slaughter programs.
