Paddock
Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Generally quite a fractious mob of young steers to handle in the yards. Becoming more unsettled as they were brought up from the back yards & the pens became smaller. Anxious in the force and race, many rushing about, & doing some pushing in the race. Once on the scales, majority were, surprising very well behaved, & quite settled, over 80% calmly exiting the crush at a walk, then wandering down to the holding paddock to meet their brothers. Steers need further handling & an experienced stockman

Assessor Comments
Very well bred line of steers offered by the Dwerryhouse family. Steers that are usually retained and grown out to heavy end feedlot weights. With a core herd of breeders built around The Glen Angus genetics, then later introducing Fernhill Angus. Always selecting sires on carcass & growth traits, focusing on EMA, IMF, RBY & the 400/600 day growth figures, with a target in mind of producing a high performing heavy feedlot body at 14-15 months. These are fresh, healthy young steers with plenty of frame & shape to take on and background out to export weights or start on feed ration. Given their anxious/uneducated nature, they would best suit to put in with another mob of quiet steers, or find a buyer willing to put a bit of time in to them (Easy to handle in large yard, but quite anxious as the yards become smaller & the handler is in closer proximity) Buyers please note. Vendor has another lot of the lighter brothers in the same sale. Please see photos & video for full contentment.
